THE PHIL STORY!

Phil L. Herold was born in Munich, Bavaria in April 1980. He attended the primary school of Tann, Rottal-Inn nearby Marktl am Inn, until 1993. From 1993 to 1997 he studied at the secondary modern school for art and art history of Munich, Bavaria, and graduated in 1997.

The next year after his graduation he did business cards, flyers, simple print adds, in order to earn a living, he began to experiment by doing 3-D graphic designs. This was the first time Phil L. Herold got in touch with 3-D graphic design.

"I´m a "Cyber Space Expressionist" of the 21st century and the world I'm creating is the world I wanna live in! Life is just a short stopover in a long constant trip we do. The subject matter of my work is to reflect the impressions of what life is, could be and what life could bring to us, into straightforward always changing expressionistically artificial pictures. The globe spins all the time and the sun is shining forever, even at night."

One year after graduation he met a lively gentleman, Mr. Siggi Kögl, on the first floor of a back yard office on the Türkenstraße in the heart of Munich. Phil L. Herold brought some boxes with all of his artwork, between the years 1980 - 1998. The reason for Phil L. Herolds visit was to interview for a job. Mr. Kögl expressed great admiration for Phil L. Herold and his work. And so it happened that Phil L. Herold got a position as a trainee. At the same time, at the age of 17, Phil L. Herold became the youngest employee in this multimedia concern ever. After four years of sparkling impressions, new experiences in life and business he gained at this concern, Phil L. Herold graduated in 2002 as a Media-Designer.

"My most notable influences are in music. The journeys around the globe, paintings of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and some musicians who lived their short live in the 60´s and 70's but they lived their live so lively that the beat of their vital line of communication is to hear till today. The world is a game to be played… I don't dream my dream. I live my dream! Cause life is a fast straight stream. Maybe I won't last as long as other people. But I think you can destroy your now, worrying about tomorrow.. Anyway in ten years I'll see me probably dead. In the end died of an overdose Phil. You know I’m the drug that makes you dream. Dream as if you'll live forever and live as if you'll die today. Being an intellectual creates a lot of questions and no answers. You can fill your life up with ideas and still go home lonely. All you really have that really matters are feelings. That's what art is to me.
...It's kind of fun to do the impossible."

In winter 2003 Phil L. Herold decided that it's time to bring his artwork to public attention. A few months after this decision, in 2004 Phil L. Herold flew to Manhattan, N.Y. where he met Michael Perez which is also one of the hottest modern pop artists of today. He was very impressed by Phil L. Herolds artwork and decided immediately to support him.

The Phil L. Herold Pop Art is exhibited at the Michael Perez Pop Art Gallery, Chelsea - New York, 37° Snuggallery - Munich, Gallery Mensing - Berlin/Munich and was exhibited at the Gallery Berr, Lenbachplatz - Munich, Gallery Raymundo Gardea, Long Beach - L.A. and the zweiter Berliner Kunstsalon '05.

Phil L. Herold reside and work out of a studio apartment in Munich and Tann, Bavaria.

"You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people, also like you and me to make the dream a reality. Artists like me, we make the world go round. That’s what I’m saying. If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that this whole thing was started with a dream and a Philifant. So in the end I even learned to walk, without my feet! And my luxury is that I’ve survived."

His art is for example in the personal collections of Ron Wood & Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Angus Young (AC/DC), Jon Anderson (Yes), Anthony Kiedis & John Frusciante (RHCP), Tony Iommi & Geezer Butler & Ozzy Osbourne & Bill Ward (Black Sabbath), Spencer Davis, James Brown, Snoop Dogg, Al McKay, Cher, Wyclef Jean, Jay Z, Aimee Mann, Avril Lavigne, Wynton & Branford Marsalis, Dave Brubeck, Till Brönner, Nina Hagen, Andreas Frege (Campino Die Toten Hosen), Eros Ramazzotti, Marla Glenn, Willy Michl, Thomas D (Die Fantastischen 4), Martin Vandreier (Fettes Brot), Gerhard Polt, Gerhard Gmell & Günther Sigl (Spider Murphy Gang), James Rizzi, Christo & Jeanne-Claude, Franz Beckenbauer and Bill Clinton.
